Set Up Data Preference

Data preference settings are required while you’re migrating your Oberlo data to an existing DSers account in case of data conflicts between your Oberlo and DSers accounts.

What Is Data Conflict

Data conflict will only happen when you migrate Oberlo data to an existing DSers account. Let’s see some examples.

Conflict

Examples

I

Product conflict

Shopify product A exists on both DSers and Oberlo.

A is mapped to supplier 1 on Oberlo
A is mapped to supplier 2 on DSers
1 is different from 2

Before you migrate Oberlo data to DSers,  you will need to let DSers know, you want to keep the mapping to 1 or 2.

II

Order conflict

Shopify order 1 with customer info N is synced to both DSers and Oberlo.

You modified customer info to M on DSers
You keep the customer info to N on Oberlo
M is different from N

Before you migrate Oberlo data to DSers, you will need to let DSers know, you want to keep customer information as M or N.

III

Setting conflict

Pricing rule feature is available on both DSers and Oberlo

You set up pricing rule C on DSers
You set up pricing rule D on Oberlo
C is different from D

Before you migrate Oberlo data to DSers, you will need to let DSers know, you want to keep pricing rule as C or D.

If you want to migrate your Oberlo account to an existing DSers account, there might be 2 situations that happen with different data conflicts

Situation

Data conflicts

1

Oberlo and DSers account that you want to migrate to are connected to the same Shopify store before migration

I)、II)、III)may happen

2

Oberlo and DSers that you want to migrate to are not connected to the same Shopify store before migration

Only III) may happen

For situation 1, you will see the Data preference settings as below:

1-Data Preference-Preference settings

For situation 2, you will see the Data preference settings as below:

What does it mean  exactly?  Please continue reading.

What Can I Do with the Conflict

Generally speaking, you have 2 ways to deal with the potential conflict.

Method 1

Clear data in DSers account and then migrate Oberlo data.
Your DSers data will be lost if you select this.
But there will not be any conflicts generated.

Method 2

Merge data from DSers and Oberlo accounts.
Data in both of the accounts will be kept.
But you will need to let DSers know which data you prefer to keep if there is data conflict generated, data from DSers or Oberlo, as the page below shows.
