Stop losing money on hidden fees. Automate your markup in seconds.

Note: In dropshipping, your purchase cost isn't the only number that matters. By the time a product reaches your customer, you’ve incurred transaction fees, currency conversion losses, and fluctuating supplier shipping rates. Manually calculating this for 100 products is unrealistic. The Basic Pricing Rule in DSers automates this math, ensuring that every single product pushed to your store hits your target profit margin—no spreadsheet required .

This tutorial walks you through DSers' Pricing Rules suite and focuses on the Basic pricing rule, the quickest way to automate your markup. You'll learn:

  • The four pricing rule types and when to use each
  • How to set up a Basic pricing rule step by step
  • How DSers handles currency conversion (USD → your store currency)

Why Automate Your Pricing? (Stop Doing Manual Math)

The reality: You don't have a spreadsheet problem. You have a time problem. Every product you import needs a retail price. Doing that manually—calculating cost + shipping + fees + profit, product by product—takes minutes. Multiply that by 100 products, and you've lost hours to repetitive math.

One typo on a decimal, and you've sold a 20 item for 2.00.

This is why DSers offers Pricing Rules—a suite of automation tools that do the math for you instantly and consistently. Set your formula once. Then, every product you push to your store gets priced automatically. No calculators. No copy-paste errors. No double-checking.

The Four Pricing Rule Types

DSers gives you four ways to automate your pricing, depending on how complex your product catalog is:

Pricing Rule Type Best For What It Does
Basic pricing rule Niche stores with similar product costs One fixed markup (multiply or add) applied to every product
Standard pricing rule Stores with varied product categories Different markups for different cost ranges (e.g., 0–0–10 = x3, 10.01–10.01–20 = x2.5)
Advanced-Fixed Formula Template Sellers on Advanced plan or higher Includes shipping fees and operating costs in the formula
Advanced-Custom pricing template When existing pricing rules can't meet your needs You can create your own custom pricing formula

For most beginners, the Basic pricing rule is the perfect starting point. It's simple, fast, and covers the majority of use cases when you're just getting started.

What is the Basic Pricing Rule?

It is a simple, global pricing template. You decide whether to Multiply the cost by a factor (e.g., 3x) or Add a fixed amount (e.g., +$10.00). DSers applies this instantly when you push the product to your store .

Step-by-Step: Setting Up Your Basic pricing rule

Follow these steps to configure your Settings > Pricing & Currencies tab like a pro.

1. Navigate to Pricing Templates

  • Log in to your DSers account.
  • Go to Settings > Pricing & Currencies.
  • In the Pricing Templates section, select the store you are currently configuring.

2. Activate the Basic Rule

  • Toggle the Pricing Rule switch to On.
  • Ensure Basic pricing rule is selected from the dropdown menu .

3. Choose Your Math: Cost Base

You have two options for the base value:

  • Product Cost: (Default) Uses the supplier's item price only.
  • Total Cost: Recommended. This includes Product Cost + Shipping. This is safer because it prevents high-shipping items from becoming loss leaders .

4. Set Your Markup Strategy

Click the Symbol selector ( + or × ) and choose your profit weapon:

  • Multiplication (×): Best for high-margin, low-cost items.
  • Example: Cost 5.00ב3‘=15.00 Retail Price.
  • Addition (+): Best for high-cost electronics or heavy items.
  • Example: Cost 50.00+‘20` = 70.00 Retail Price.
Pro Tip (The Buffer Rule): When entering your number, ensure your markup covers your Payment Gateway Fees and your desired NetProfit. If you want 10 profit on a 10 item, don′t just add 10 ; add 10.50 to cover the transaction fee .

6. Save & Apply

  • Click Save at the bottom of the page.
  • Next Step: Go to your Import List. When you select a product and click Push to Store, DSers will automatically inject your new pricing rule into the listing .

Common Mistake to Avoid

Currency Confusion: How DSers Calculates Prices

All pricing rule calculations in DSers run in USD first. The system then automatically converts the result to your store currency (EUR, GBP, CAD, etc.) when you push the product .

If your store uses a non-USD currency, check your exchange rate settings in Settings > Pricing & Currencies .
